Education Minister Ismail Rahu says 60 percent of university vehicles across Sindh be immediately grounded
KARACHI: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 11th, 2026) The Sindh government has ordered all public and private universities in the province to hold classes online from March 16 to 31, citing the global fuel crisis and the need to conserve energy.
Sindh Minister for Universities, Ismail Rahu announced that the use of official vehicles by universities will be cut by 50 percent, and fuel allocations for all government departments will also be reduced by half over the next two months. He further directed that 60 percent of university vehicles across Sindh be immediately grounded.
The decision comes in the wake of rising fuel prices following the ongoing conflict in the middle East. After similar measures were implemented by the Punjab government, the Sindh administration has also opted to close physical classes in schools and universities temporarily, shifting to online learning during this period.
The officials said the move aims to reduce fuel consumption while ensuring that students’ education continues uninterrupted through digital platforms.
