KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) took suo motu notice of the brutal killing of a mother and daughter in Larkana and directed the Senior Superintendent of Police, District Larkana, to submit a detailed report in this regard.

The Sindh Human Rights Commission (SHRC) expressed deep anguish and unequivocal condemnation over the brutal killing of Mst. Shahida Jatoi and her minor daughter, Naghma Jatoi, in Larkana, reportedly in the name of so-called Karo Kari.

This heinous act, in which the victims were allegedly murdered, their bodies desecrated, and their home set ablaze, reflects an appalling level of violence and a grave violation of fundamental human rights. Such acts carried out under the guise of “honour” are not only morally reprehensible but constitute serious crimes against the State.

SHRC noted that a First Information Report (FIR) was registered promptly, a postmortem examination was conducted, and the accused has reportedly been arrested along with the weapon used in the crime.

While these initial steps are important, the Commission stressed that justice must not only be initiated but must be carried through transparently, swiftly, and without any external influence.

The Commission also took serious note of concerns regarding the conduct of the investigation, including the reported suspension of the concerned SHO. Any negligence, delay, or compromise in the investigation process undermines public trust and must be addressed through strict departmental accountability.

SHRC reiterated that women and girls have an equal right to life, dignity, and the freedom to make decisions about their lives. Violence in the name of so-called honour is a gross violation of these rights and must be treated with zero tolerance.

The Commission urged the Government of Sindh and relevant law enforcement authorities to ensure a transparent and merit-based investigation.
