Shounter Astore Administration Cracks Down on Overpricing and Fare Violations in Minimarg Market

ASTORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jul, 2026) Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Astore Ms. Neelam Ali and Assistant Commissioner Shounter Khalid Anwar, the Sub-Divisional Administration Shounter launched an effective operation against profiteering and violations of official price lists in Minimarg Bazaar, imposing fines on several shopkeepers and public transport operators.

In this connection, Naib Tehsildar Minimarg Abdul Majeed conducted a detailed inspection of the local market. During the visit, various shops were inspected to review compliance with official price lists, cleanliness standards, pricing of essential commodities, and other administrative matters.

Shopkeepers found violating the officially notified prices, charging excessive rates, or failing to prominently display the government price list were fined on the spot. They were also directed to strictly comply with the official price lists in the future.

The administration also inspected public transport vehicles operating between Astore and Minimarg. Officials reviewed compliance with the government-approved fare schedule and took legal action against drivers found overcharging passengers or violating the prescribed fare list by imposing fines.

The drivers were warned to strictly adhere to the officially notified fares, failing which stricter legal action would be taken.

The Sub-Divisional Administration Shounter reiterated its commitment to protecting public interests by continuing regular monitoring of markets and public transport to curb profiteering, hoarding, and overcharging. Traders, shopkeepers, and transport operators were urged to fully comply with government rules and regulations to ensure the provision of quality goods at official prices and transport services at approved fares.
