Shaheenabad station upgradation to promote economic activities :DC

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Monday said that the upgradation of Shaheenabad Railway Station would not only benefit passengers but also promote commercial and economic activities in the region.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Divisional Transport Officer (DTO) Multan of Pakistan Railways, Adnan Marwat, and his technical team at the DC Office to discuss the upgradation of Shaheenabad Railway Station, improvement of passenger facilities, and the possibility of launching a freight train service for industrial transportation.

During the briefing, the DTO informed the meeting that Shaheenabad is the last railway station under the Multan Division of Pakistan Railways, after which the jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Division begins.

He said Pakistan Railways, in collaboration with the district administration, has decided to upgrade Shaheenabad Railway Station on modern lines to provide improved facilities for passengers, including a better waiting area and enhanced basic amenities.

The meeting also reviewed the proposal to operate a freight train service for the local stone crushing industry to facilitate the transportation of minerals and construction material in a more efficient manner.
