SFDA chief reviews Makkah facilities ahead of Hajj 1447 AH

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) Dr. Hisham S. Aljadhey reviewed the authority’s operational preparedness and inspected multiple facilities in the Makkah Region as part of arrangements for Hajj 1447 AH.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the inspection tour was conducted to assess the readiness of regulatory and field operations aimed at ensuring safety and quality standards during the Hajj season.

Aljadhey reviewed key regulatory procedures related to food, pharmaceutical and medical products to ensure compliance with Saudi Arabia’s approved safety and quality standards.

SPA told APP that the SFDA chief also visited food factories and warehouses where inspectors were monitoring different stages of production, including preparation, manufacturing and packaging processes.

During the visit, he stressed the importance of maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality to enhance protection of products being provided to pilgrims during Hajj.

The report highlighted that the SFDA was also utilizing advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency and sustainability in support of the integrated Hajj work system.

Among the modern initiatives, the authority has introduced body cameras in field inspection operations to strengthen transparency, improve quality control and provide real-time support to inspection teams.

The SFDA continues to play a central role during Hajj through extensive inspection and monitoring operations at entry points, holy sites and facilities operating under its supervision to help ensure the health and safety of pilgrims.
