QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jun, 2026) Senator Muhammad Abdul Qadir, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production, has welcomed the allocation of Rs. 96 billion for education and Rs. 197 billion for health in Balochistan’s upcoming fiscal year 2026–27 budget, describing it as a historic and encouraging step toward human development.
In his statement, Senator Abdul Qadir noted that these allocations demonstrate the provincial government’s commitment to prioritizing education and healthcare, two fundamental pillars of progress. He emphasized, however, that the true success of this financial package depends not only on the size of the funds but on their transparent and merit-based utilization.
Highlighting the challenges faced by Balochistan, he pointed out that thousands of schools remain deprived of basic facilities, with shortages of teachers, laboratories, and modern curricula. He stressed that if the Rs. 96 billion earmarked for education is spent wisely, schools, colleges, and universities could be upgraded to meet contemporary standards, introducing digital classrooms, scientific laboratories, and trained faculty to open new avenues of opportunity for the province’s youth.

He noted that many patients suffering from cancer, trauma, and heart disease are forced to travel to Karachi or Lahore for treatment, placing heavy burdens on families. Establishing advanced hospitals, trauma centers, and diagnostic facilities within Balochistan, he said, would allow thousands to access quality care locally.
Senator Abdul Qadir concluded that investment in education and health is essentially investment in human resources, echoing the path taken by developed nations. He cautioned that corruption, political interference, and misuse of funds must be eliminated to ensure these allocations deliver real benefits. “This budget represents a historic opportunity for Balochistan,” he said, adding that the province’s brighter future now depends on effective and transparent implementation of these commitments.
