Embassy spokesperson emphasises that at no stage did Saudi Arabia exert pressure on the US administration to change its policy regarding Iran
WASHINGTON: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 3rd,2026) Saudi Embassy in Washington has denied a report published by a US newspaper claiming that Saudi Arabia pressured former President Donald Trump to attack Iran.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the embassy clarified that the Kingdom has consistently supported diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving reliable agreements with Iran.
The embassy spokesperson emphasized that at no stage did Saudi Arabia exert pressure on the US administration to change its policy regarding Iran.
The US newspaper had reported that the recent American strike on Iran occurred at a time when US intelligence assessments indicated that Iran did not pose an immediate threat to the US homeland in the coming decade.
Following the attack, former President Trump stated that US ground forces would not enter Iran, and the objectives would instead be targeted through air and missile strikes.
However, according to the newspaper, experts have noted that historically, attempting to change a country’s internal political system solely through air power has proven to be extremely challenging.
