Saif ur Rehman terms federal budget balanced, growth-oriented

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) Coordinator to the Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif Ur Rehman on Friday termed the Federal Budget 2026-27 a balanced, growth-oriented and business-friendly budget, saying it contained a comprehensive package of incentives aimed at accelerating economic activity and promoting exports.

Commenting on the budget, he welcomed the reforms introduced by the government to improve the ease of doing business and facilitate investment across various sectors of the economy.

He said the measures announced in the budget would help steer the national economy towards sustainable growth while providing relief to different segments of society. He expressed optimism that key economic indicators would continue to improve, supported by increased remittances and enhanced economic activity.

Saif Ur Rehman said a strong economy was essential for the stability and progress of any state and expressed hope that Pakistan would continue moving forward under prudent economic policies.

He appreciated the economic vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and said the incentives announced in the budget would provide support to the business community, encourage investment and contribute to export growth.

Referring to the challenges facing the economy, he said Pakistan had been affected by global economic uncertainties, climate-related challenges and regional geopolitical tensions, which had increased difficulties for businesses and industrial sectors.

However, he said the government had taken important policy measures to address these challenges and strengthen economic resilience.

He stressed the need to adopt modern agricultural practices to enhance per-acre crop yields and welcomed the allocation of significant resources for research and development in the agriculture sector. He said the use of advanced technologies and high-yield hybrid seeds would help modernise agriculture and improve productivity.

Saif Ur Rehman expressed confidence that any concerns of the business community regarding the budget would be addressed through consultation, adding that a vibrant private sector remained essential for sustainable economic growth and national development.
