KHANEWAL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2026) The Safe City Project has been formally launched in Khanewal to enhance public safety and improve policing.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Abid, along with SP Safe City Nasrullah Waraich, inaugurated the project. He said that 192 modern CCTV cameras had been installed at key locations across the city and linked to a central control room established at the DPO office.

He said advanced facial recognition technology would help identify and monitor criminals, while the number plate recognition system would assist in tracking stolen vehicles and monitoring their movement.

The DPO added that the project would significantly improve crime prevention and ensure a more effective police response time.

An e-challan system has also been introduced to improve traffic management and ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws.

He further said that citizens can access blood donation assistance by pressing “4” on the 15 helpline, terming it an important welfare initiative.

He urged citizens to cooperate with the police to help make Khanewal a safe and model district.
