ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jun, 2026) The Federal government has earmarked Rs2,699.339 million under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27 for the ongoing Expansion of Safe City Islamabad project aimed at strengthening surveillance, public safety and smart policing capabilities in the federal capital.
According to Budgetary documents released on Friday, the project was approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on May 16, 2025, and is being implemented under the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police.
The total cost of the project stands at Rs7,499.339 million, of which Rs4,800 million had been spent up to June 30, 2026. The remaining throw-forward liability has been estimated at Rs2,699.

The allocation for fiscal year 2026-27 covers the entire remaining cost of the project and is expected to facilitate its completion.
The expansion project is aimed at enhancing Islamabad’s Safe City infrastructure through advanced surveillance systems, improved monitoring capabilities, smart policing tools, and technology-driven law enforcement measures to strengthen crime prevention and public security.
The project is among the major ongoing initiatives of ICT Police to improve urban safety, emergency response, traffic management and the use of modern technology in policing across the federal capital.
