Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology Sabheen Ghoury on Tuesday described Pakistan’s recent diplomatic success as “historic,” crediting both the current government and military leadership for the progress
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Jun, 2026) Parliamentary Secretary for Information Technology Sabheen Ghoury on Tuesday described Pakistan’s recent diplomatic success as “historic,” crediting both the current government and military leadership for the progress.
Participating in the National Assembly budget debate, she congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying recent international achievements marked an important milestone that deserved recognition from both leadership and the public.
Turning to the Federal budget, she highlighted key financial measures and presented proposals for the development of Karachi, calling it the country’s main economic centre.
She said allocations under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) were a positive step but stressed the need for greater focus on Karachi.
She noted that Karachi contributes around 67 percent of national revenue and should therefore receive at least 10 percent of development funding to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education, and communication systems.

Emphasizing education, she called it the backbone of national development and urged increased budgetary allocation for the sector.
She said the Rs 46 billion allocated for higher education and Rs 36 billion for school education were encouraging but should gradually be increased to between one and four percent of the total budget.
She cited developed countries such as Germany as examples of strong investment in education, saying Pakistan must follow similar priorities to secure its youth, reduce poverty, and address unemployment.
She also stressed the urgent need to bring nearly 25 million out-of-school children into the education system through coordinated emergency measures by federal and provincial governments, saying this was essential for strengthening Pakistan’s long-term economic and social development.
