RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Feb, 2026) The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) on Friday expanded its anti-litter awareness campaign under the Clean Punjab Programme, making special announcements through Jamia Masajid in all 22 tehsils of Rawalpindi Division.

According to the RWMC spokesman, on the occasion of Friday prayers, religious scholars highlighted the religious, moral and social significance of cleanliness in their sermons, urging worshippers to help build a civilised society by keeping their homes, neighbourhoods and markets clean.

RWMC communication and operational teams visited the central masajid, distributed awareness pamphlets and advised citizens to dispose of waste at designated points, use waste bags and cooperate with sanitation staff.

In their sermons, scholars underscored that cleanliness is regarded as half of faith and noted that during the holy month of Ramazan, maintaining cleanliness is also a mark of respect for worship.

Special cleaning, washing and lime-spraying operations were carried out in and around masajid to ensure a clean, safe and peaceful environment for worshippers during Ramazan.

Chief Executive Officer of RWMC Rana Sajid Safdar said the initiative formed part of a comprehensive public campaign aligned with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said the programme sought not only to improve cleanliness but also to raise public awareness.

“Masajid are an effective platform for delivering this message as they serve as a strong means of social reform,” he said, adding that every citizen should treat cleanliness as both an individual and collective responsibility.

Safdar said the campaign was being implemented in a coordinated manner across all tehsils of the division and stressed that the goal of a clean, healthy and beautiful Punjab could only be achieved through public cooperation.
