FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) Rwanda’s High Commissioner Harerimana Fatou has urged the business community to capitalise on vast investment opportunities in Rwanda particularly in textiles and agriculture to expand production and enhance bilateral trade.
Addressing a special session at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI), she highlighted Rwanda as one of the safest countries in Africa and an emerging gateway for exports to the broader African market and beyond.
She encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs especially from Faisalabad to establish manufacturing units in Rwanda, citing the city’s renowned expertise in the textile sector.
She said that Rwanda offers significant potential in food processing and the wood industry, along with attractive incentives and facilitation from its government for foreign investors.
She described Rwanda as one of the world’s greenest cities with minimal pollution, making it an ideal destination for sustainable industrial growth.
She also stressed the importance of value addition and logistics, noting that Pakistan could exploit its capabilities in these sectors to strengthen trade ties.
She assured that the Rwandan government would extend full support and incentives to Pakistani investors in addition to encouraging Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements to initiate joint ventures.
Earlier, FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh welcomed the High Commissioner on her second visit to the chamber and termed Pakistan-Rwanda trade relations as promising.
He said that Rwanda exports tea and coffee to Pakistan while Pakistan exports medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, textiles and rice to Rwanda.
He emphasized the need for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries to further boost bilateral trade particularly in textiles, leather, sports goods, and IT services.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening chamber-to-chamber linkages and invited Rwandan investors to explore industrial opportunities in Faisalabad.
Senior Vice President FCCI Naveed Akram Sheikh, speaking on law and order, said that he has been engaged in confectionery trade with around 30 African countries including Rwanda, and has never faced any security issues, reflecting the region’s business-friendly environment.
During interactive session, former president FCCI Rehan Naseem Bharara, executive member Nadeem Iqbal and other participants raised questions and shared views.
Two documentaries highlighting investment opportunities in Faisalabad and Rwanda were also screened.
Later, shields and gifts were exchanged between FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh and High Commissioner Harerimana Fatou.
The High Commissioner also recorded her remarks in the FCCI Visitor’s Book and participated in a group photo session.
Rwanda’s Defense Attaché Colonel Shyaka Kajugiro Ismail, Trade and Finance Officer Mr. Kuyoboka Asid Ross and Communication Officer Mr. Asadullah were also present on the occasion.
