Rudy Giuliani hospitalised in critical but stable condition, spokesperson confirms

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been admitted to hospital and is currently in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesperson.

However no official details regarding his medical condition or the duration of his hospitalisation have been released.

Spokesperson Ted Goodman described the 81-year-old as a “fighter,” stating that Giuliani has faced every challenge in his life with determination and continues to show the same resilience. He also urged supporters to keep him in their prayers during this time.

Giuliani, widely known as “America’s Mayor,” earned national recognition for his leadership following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, where he became a symbol of crisis management and resilience.

Earlier in his career he also built a strong reputation as a federal prosecutor known for his aggressive campaign against organized crime in New York.

However, his later years have been marked by significant legal and political controversies. As an attorney for former U.S. President Donald Trump, Giuliani played a key role in efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results, which led to multiple legal actions against him, including defamation rulings and disbarment proceedings in some jurisdictions.

In 2023, a federal jury ordered Giuliani to pay substantial damages to election workers after finding him liable for defamation over false claims related to election fraud.

Despite these challenges Giuliani remained a close political ally of Donald Trump who on Sunday expressed support for him, praising his past leadership and referring to him as one of the strongest mayors in New York City’s history.

Trump also criticized political opponents, stating that Giuliani had been unfairly treated, while extending his wishes for recovery.

Giuliani had previously been hospitalised following a car accident in New Hampshire last year, adding to a series of recent health and legal difficulties.

At present, his medical condition remains undisclosed, while concern continues to grow among supporters and political figures as updates are awaited.
