HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Mar, 2026) The Secretary Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Hyderabad has claimed that they have recovered Rs1.868 million charged in excess fares from the people returning to their homes to celebrate Eidul Fitr by the transporters.
The Secretary Saleem Memon informed here on Sunday that a team of the RTA Hyderabad checked more than 125 public transport vehicles transporting people from different destinations in the country through Hyderabad.
He claimed that they also imposed a total of Rs600,000 in fines on the transporters for charging excess fares.
Memon said the Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who is also the province's Senior and Information Minister, had strictly directed the transport officials to ensure a crackdown against the transporters looting passengers returning to their hometowns to celebrate Eid.
The Secretary warned the transporters to desist from robbing the passengers if they did not want to face penalties.
