ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has returned more than Rs2.6 million to passengers recovered from transporters on account of excessive fares during a nationwide campaign against overcharging and overloading.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the special campaign was being carried out on the directions of Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry to curb overcharging, overloading and traffic violations by public transport vehicles.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The spokesperson said more than 9,000 challans had also been issued to passenger vehicles over overloading, overcharging and incomplete travel documents.
Passengers were advised to register complaints directly with Motorway Police officers, through the helpline 130, or via the official social media handle @NHMP, the spokesperson added.
The NHMP is also conducting awareness campaigns regarding road safety at toll plazas across the country, the spokesperson said.
