According to officials, the action was taken on the directives of Deputy Commissioner(DC),Muhammad Ali Ijaz as Price Control Magistrates and enforcement teams inspected 5,242 locations across different markets to check violations of officially notified rates.

The operation aimed to ensure the availability of essential commodities at controlled prices and curb overcharging in the city.

Officials said that the supply of vegetables was also improved with 63 truckloads of onions and 47 trucks of potatoes reaching local markets, contributing to price stability.

The price of okra (bhindi) reportedly dropped by Rs.80.

The DC directed strict enforcement of government-fixed rates, reiterating a zero-tolerance policy against profiteering.

He instructed magistrates to conduct daily monitoring of markets and ensure display of official rate lists at all shops.

He warned that strict action, including sealing of premises would be taken against hoarders involved in artificial inflation, stressing the need to maintain a stable supply chain.

Muhammad Ali Ijaz said all available resources were being utilized to provide relief to citizens and urged the public to report complaints via the DC Office Control Room at 0307-0002345 or official social media channels.
