LODHRAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th May, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Multan, Usman Akram Gondal, on Tuesday chaired a meeting in Lodhran, inaugurated the Safe City project, held an open court (Khuli Katcheri), and inspected Police Station Sadar.

During the meeting, attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Capt (R) Ali Bin Tariq, DSPs and SHOs, the overall crime situation, law and order, and ongoing operations against criminal elements were reviewed in detail. The DPO briefed the participants on crime trends and measures taken to maintain peace in the district.

Addressing the officers, the RPO stressed the need for adopting modern policing techniques, including effective use of CCTV surveillance and digital monitoring systems to combat crime. He directed that intelligence-based operations be further intensified and pending cases be disposed of promptly without unnecessary delays.

He also ordered strict action against proclaimed offenders, with an emphasis on accelerating search operations, and directed that crackdowns on drug trafficking and illegal weapons be carried out on a daily basis. “A daily crime briefing mechanism must be ensured at every police station,” he said, adding that community policing should be strengthened to build trust between the police and the public.

He directed SHOs to perform effectively in order to prevent crime in their respective areas and to utilize all possible resources for masses protection.

Later, under the vision of “Safe Lodhran,” the RPO inaugurated the Safe City office and inspected its video wall, modern communication equipment, and body camera system.

Officials briefed the RPO that the project included installation of 273 surveillance cameras at 38 key locations across the city, along with a facial recognition system to help identify suspects. Additionally, installation of panic buttons at 15 locations, while free Wi-Fi facilities would be provided at 10 places.

The RPO said the Safe City project would play a vital role in reducing police response time during emergencies, preventing crime, and improving the process of evidence collection.

During his visit to Police Station Sadar, he inspected the lock-up, record room, armory, and malkhana, and reviewed the functioning of the front desk. He directed the staff to treat politely and prompt service delivery to citizens.

An open court was also held at the police station, where a large number of citizens presented their complaints. The RPO issued on-the-spot orders for redressal and stated that the credibility of the police depends on public trust and transparent performance.

The RPO also visited the under-construction police station building in Qureshiwala and reviewed the pace and quality of work. The DPO briefed him on the project, upon which the RPO directed that construction be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on standards.

He concluded that modern police infrastructure would not only improve service delivery to the public but also enhance the working environment for police personnel, ultimately leading to better performance and effective crime control.
