DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO), Ghulam Mubashir Mekan on Thursday credited the collective efforts of peace committees, religious scholars, community elders, traders, civil society, and law enforcement agencies for ensuring the peaceful observance of Ashura (10th of Muharram) in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank, describing it a collaborative effort based of unity, coordination, and shared responsibility.
Hse stated this while chairing a meeting held here at Ejaz Shaheed Police Lines to acknowledge and thank members of the peace committees from both districts for their role in maintaining peace during Muharram. The meeting was attended by District Police Officer (DPO) Dera, Ziauddin Ahmed, Superintendent of Police (SP) Headquarters, SP City, office-bearers of the peace committees, religious scholars representing different schools of thought, members of the business community, and prominent representatives of civil society.
Addressing the participants, the RPO thanked the Almighty for the successful and peaceful conclusion of Ashura in both the districts. He praised the peace committee members for their unwavering cooperation with the police and civil administration, saying their timely coordination and continuous communication helped authorities effectively respond to every situation and maintain law and order.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He stressed that the region had endured difficult times in the past and had achieved peace through immense sacrifices.
"No one will be allowed to create circumstances that threaten the hard-earned peace of this region," he said, adding that anti-state elements seeking to spread unrest and instability could only be defeated through unity, mutual trust, and collective vigilance.
The RPO also urged religious leaders, community elders, and members of the peace committees to remain alert and ensure that no disruptive elements were allowed to exploit the prevailing atmosphere of harmony.
At the end, members of the peace committees, religious scholars, and representatives of the business community appreciated the police and security agencies for their effective security arrangements during Muharram. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue supporting the district administration and police in promoting lasting peace, communal harmony, and stability in the region. The gathering ended with special prayers for the country's security and enduring peace.
