Robber held after encounter with police

DERA GHAZI KHAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) A notorious robber who had injured a citizen during a robbery two days ago in the jurisdiction of Choti Police Station was arrested in an injured condition after a police encounter in the area of Darkhast Jamal Khan Police Station on Tuesday.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Darkhast Jamal Khan, Sub-Inspector Shah Nawaz, the accused along with his accomplices snatched a motorcycle and cash from a citizen in the area and was fleeing when the police received information through the emergency helpline 15. Acting promptly, a police team rushed to the spot and started chasing the suspects.

On seeing the police party, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire. The police retaliated in self-defence, resulting in an exchange of fire. During the shootout, one of the suspects identified as Bilal s/o Juma, a resident of Rakh Azmat Wala, Dajal, was hit by firing from his own accomplices and fell injured.

The police arrested him on the spot along with weapons and two motorcycles.

Police officials said that one of the recovered motorcycles had been snatched during a robbery in the jurisdiction of Choti Police Station two days earlier, while the other motorcycle had been taken from a citizen in today’s incident.

The other accomplices managed to escape from the scene under the cover of darkness. Police teams have launched raids to arrest the absconding suspects.

Police further revealed that the arrested Bilal was a record holder and several cases have already been registered against him at Kot Chutta and Choti police stations.

The injured suspect was shifted to hospital for medical treatment, while further legal proceedings were underway. SHO Shah Nawaz said that efforts are continuing to arrest the fleeing accomplices and they will be apprehended soon.
