Rescue 1122 Multan issues Code Red emergency plan for Muharram and Ashura

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Multan Dr. Hussain Mian has issued a comprehensive emergency cover plan for Muharram-ul-Haram, particularly for Ashura, placing the entire district on high alert.

While chairing a meeting at Rescue 1122 Headquarters, Chok Kumharanwala, Dr. Hussain Mian directed all operational staff to remain on high alert and ensure full emergency preparedness across Multan, including Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala. He emphasized that emergency medical cover must be ensured at all major Imambargahs, processions, and gatherings during Muharram.

He ordered the implementation of Code Red on 9th and 10th Muharram and announced the cancellation of all staff leaves to maximize emergency response capacity.

According to the plan, more than 600 Rescue 1122 personnel will remain on duty, supported by modern ambulances, fire and rescue vehicles, and specialized equipment. A total of 35 ambulances, 18 fire and rescue vehicles, and 90 motorcycle ambulances will accompany mourning processions to provide immediate response in case of any emergency.

Mobile emergency response posts will also be established at key Imambargahs and sensitive locations across the district, equipped with first aid facilities and necessary medical supplies to provide timely assistance to mourners.

Dr. Hussain Mian said that all arrangements will be supervised by senior officers including Admin Emergency Officer Engineer Muhammad Bilal, Rescue and Safety Officer Arshad Khan, Control Room Incharge Muhammad Mudassar Zia, station coordinators, and shift in-charges.

He further stated that the Rescue 1122 Control Room will remain fully operational 24/7 during Ashura to ensure uninterrupted emergency services.

He urged the public, procession organizers, and Imambargah administrators to cooperate fully with Rescue teams to ensure smooth and timely emergency response during Muharram gatherings.
