DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Jun, 2026) Rescue 1122 has launched a special safety awareness campaign at the Indus River and various picnic spots to prevent water-related accidents during the summer season.
According to spokesman, in this regard trained water rescue and diving teams have been deployed at sensitive locations.
He added that the campaign was being carried out under the special directives of the Director General Rescue 1122 and the Director Operations South Region, under the supervision of the District Emergency Officer.
Rescue personnel organized awareness activities at various recreational sites along the Indus River, using megaphones to educate citizens, youth, and children about the dangers of swimming in rivers, canals, and deep waters, as well as the precautions necessary to avoid drowning incidents.
The rescue officials urged citizens to swim only at designated safe locations, ensure that children are not left unattended near water bodies, and immediately contact the Rescue 1122 helpline in case of any emergency.
The spokesperson further stated that a Trained Water Rescue and Professional Diving Team (TWRP) has been deployed at the Darya Khan Bridge on the Indus River.

On the instructions of the District Emergency Officer, all Station House In-Charges have been directed to ensure continuous monitoring, awareness activities, and prompt response at the Indus River, picnic spots, swimming pools, and other water recreation sites.
In addition, all rescue stations, medical teams, rescue boats, water rescue personnel, and diving teams have been instructed to remain fully prepared and on high alert to deal with any emergency situation.
Rescue 1122 has appealed to the public to adopt safety precautions while enjoying water-based recreational activities during the summer season, prioritize their own safety and that of their families, and immediately contact Rescue 1122 in the event of any untoward incident.
