MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2026) District Emergency Office (DEO) Rescue 1122 Multan Head Dr. Hussain Mian,
announced an emergency cover plan for Muharram-ul-Haram, particularly for Ashura.
Chairing a meeting at Rescue 1122 headquarters, Kumharanwala Chowk, Dr Hussain
Mian, reviewed arrangements for Muharram and directed officials to ensure the provision
of first aid and emergency medical services at major Imambargahs, mourning congregations,
and processions throughout Multan district, including Shujaabad and Jalalpur Pirwala.
He ordered the implementation of a “Code Red” emergency status on 9th and 10th Muharram
and cancelled all leaves of Rescue-1122 personnel. More than 600 rescuers would remain
alert across the district, supported by modern emergency equipment, ambulances, fire
vehicles and rescue units.
According to the emergency plan, 35 ambulances, 18 fire and rescue vehicles and
90 motorbike ambulances would accompany mourning processions. Additional mobile
emergency rescue posts would be established at major Imambargahs and other sensitive
locations.

facilities would remain stationed along procession routes to provide immediate assistance
whenever required.
Dr Hussain Mian said that Emergency officer (Admin) Engineer Muhammad Bilal, Emergency
Rescue and Safety officer Arshad Khan, control room In-charge Muhammad Mudassar Zia,
station coordinators, and shift in-charges would supervise and monitor all arrangements
during Muharram.
He further stated that Rescue-1122 control room would remain operational round the clock
throughout Muharram and continue responding to all emergency calls without interruption.
In case of difficulty in contacting the emergency helpline on Ashura, citizens had been advised
to call Rescue Control Room landline at 061-9220305 or inform on-duty rescue staff and
nearby community Rescue Stations to ensure timely emergency response.
He also appealed to mourners and caretakers of Imambargahs to cooperate with Rescue 1122
teams to facilitate the prompt delivery of medical and emergency services.
