KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) Pakistan Rangers Sindh and the Special Investigation Unit of Police conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in PIB Colony against suspects allegedly involved in an extortion network linked to the Ahmed Ali Magsi and Waqar gang.
According to a statement issued on Monday, the suspects opened fire on law enforcement personnel during the operation.
In retaliatory firing, two highly wanted suspects identified as Abdullah and Abdul Sami were arrested in injured condition, while three other suspects Hameed, Ubaid and Khuda Bakhsh were apprehended without injury.
Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.
The statement said alleged gang leaders Ahmed Ali Magsi and Waqar were in hiding to avoid arrest and were allegedly operating an organised extortion network in PIB Colony from concealed locations.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>The arrested suspects were described as key operatives of the gang and were allegedly involved, on the instructions of the gang leaders, in extorting factory owners, private builders and businessmen in PIB Colony and adjoining areas.
The suspects were also allegedly involved in firing incidents, issuing threatening calls and creating fear among traders and residents for non-payment of extortion money.
According to the statement, the arrested men were habitual offenders and had previously been jailed in different cases.
Raids are being conducted to arrest other accomplices of the gang, while the arrested suspects, along with recovered weapons and ammunition, have been handed over to SIU police for further legal proceedings.
