ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, windstorms, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in several parts of the country on Thursday.
The PMD has warned that strong winds, lightning and hail may damage vulnerable infrastructure, including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards.
According to the PMD, rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms is expected at isolated places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, upper Sindh, and north and northeastern Balochistan.
Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab, while hot and dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the country.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is expected.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, scattered rain-windstorms, thunderstorms and isolated heavy rainfall with hail are likely in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu and Kurram.
In Punjab, rain accompanied by dust storms, thunderstorms, isolated heavy falls and hail is expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Kot Addu.

However, partly cloudy weather with isolated rain and thunderstorms is likely in Kashmore, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Larkana and Dadu, while Karachi and adjoining areas may receive light rain accompanied by gusty winds.
In Balochistan, mainly hot and dry weather will prevail, although isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected in Zhob, Sherani, Musa Khel, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Harnai, Sibi, Barkhan, Khuzdar and Dera Bugti.
Partly cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is also expected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, with isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms likely in Kashmir.
The PMD advised the public to take precautionary measures, warning that strong winds, hailstorms and lightning could damage weak structures during the forecast period.
During the last 24 hours, rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds was recorded at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, southern Punjab and northeastern Balochistan, while hot and dry weather prevailed over most other parts of the country.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Malam Jabba (38 mm), followed by Dir (24 mm), Parachinar (20 mm) and Zhob (17 mm).
The country's highest maximum temperatures on Wednesday were recorded in Dalbandin 46C, Sibi 45C and Larkana 44C.
