In Lahore, 1,270 vacant posts abolished while 1,594 posts expected to be abolished in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI:
The Punjab government has approved the abolition of 30,391 vacant posts across the provincial School Education Department, covering Basic Pay Scale (BPS) 1 to BPS-18, including teaching, non-teaching and Class IV staff positions, as part of a restructuring of the department. According to official sources, the authority to abolish the vacant posts has been delegated to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all District Education Authorities (DEAs) across the province. The CEOs have been directed to complete the exercise and issue the relevant notifications by July 31. Following the delegation of powers, district authorities have begun implementing the decision. Notifications have already been issued in the Lahore and Jhang districts. In Lahore, 1,270 vacant posts have been abolished, while 1,594 posts are expected to be abolished in Rawalpindi. The remaining 42 districts are expected to issue similar notifications during the coming week.
