LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Friday reaffirmed the commitment of Punjab Police to ensure better treatment and welfare of children of police employees suffering from thalassemia, as the force is providing Rs30,000 monthly financial assistance to 172 registered children across the province.
In his message on World Thalassemia Awareness Day, the IGP said Punjab Police were taking comprehensive measures for the medical care and support of affected children, adding that provision of blood donations was being ensured while blood donation camps were being organised in Lahore and other districts in collaboration with institutions working against thalassemia.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Highlighting ongoing initiatives, Abdul Kareem said that under the “Hamaray Phool Project,” regular financial assistance was being provided to help meet medical expenses of children suffering from the disease. He added that each of the 172 registered children was receiving Rs30,000 per month.
The IGP further said that more than Rs15.4 million had been disbursed so far during the current year for the treatment and welfare of children affected by thalassemia. He said Punjab Police, in collaboration with hospitals and welfare organizations, would continue to take effective steps for the treatment, assistance and well-being of affected children across the province.
