LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2026) The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) on Thursday foiled a major attempt to smuggle narcotics through the Indus River, recovering 43 kilograms of charas with an estimated market value of Rs 13 million.

The spokesperson said that intelligence reports indicated narcotics were being transported from District Swabi to Punjab via boats along the Indus River. Acting on confirmed information, CNF personnel conducted a timely operation, leading to the seizure of the illicit consignment.

He added that the recovered narcotics have been taken into custody in accordance with legal requirements, and further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling network.

The spokesperson said the operation reflects the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and forms part of the CNF’s comprehensive enforcement strategy, which continuously monitors all potential drug trafficking routes.
