Governor KP welcomes US-Iran peace agreement, terms it major step towards regional stability

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday welcomed the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a significant step towards promoting peace and stability in the region.

In a statement issued here, the Governor said the agreement reflected a positive development that would help strengthen regional peace, stability and mutual cooperation.

He said Pakistan had always advocated dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of disputes, adding that the decision of both countries to opt for negotiations instead of confrontation was encouraging.

Kundi appreciated the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, saying their contributions to the peace process were commendable.

He also acknowledged the role of Pakistan's Foreign Office and the diplomatic teams involved in facilitating the agreement, terming their efforts instrumental in making the breakthrough possible.

The Governor expressed the hope that the peace agreement would promote economic cooperation, regional connectivity and lasting stability, while highlighting the importance of diplomacy in resolving international conflicts.
