Public relief, economic growth remain govt’s top priorities: Huzaifa Rehman

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jun, 2026) Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Huzaifa Rehman said Thursday that the government had made every effort in the Federal budget to provide maximum relief to the public while continuing structural reforms to strengthen the economy.

Providing relief to the public and ensuring economic growth remain the government's top priorities, he said while speaking to a local media outlet.

He said every effort had been made in the federal budget to ease the financial burden on citizens while maintaining fiscal responsibility and pursuing structural reforms.

He stressed that long-term public relief could only be achieved through sustainable structural reforms. Referring to the privatization process of PIA and other reform initiatives, he said the government was taking difficult but necessary decisions to strengthen the economy and improve governance.

Huzaifa Rehman also emphasized the importance of strengthening the federation and called for greater cooperation between the federal and provincial governments.

He said progress in key sectors such as education, health, and climate change required a coordinated national approach.

Huzaifa noted that provinces needed to play a more active role in utilizing educational grants and scholarships and implementing climate-related initiatives.

He said stronger provincial participation was essential to meeting public expectations and achieving sustainable national development.

Concluding his remarks, Huzaifa Rehman said that meaningful progress could only be achieved through collective efforts by the federation and the provinces.

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to economic reforms, public welfare and sustainable development, expressing hope that stronger intergovernmental coordination would help deliver the relief and opportunities that citizens expect.
