PTA instructs users to keep their WhatsApp connected with active, registered SIM

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jun, 2026) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important advisory for WhatsApp users, which may affect WhatsApp accounts linked to inactive or unregistered SIMs.

According to PTA officials, WhatsApp accounts linked to a blocked or deactivated SIM may become inaccessible, but users should take necessary steps before suddenly logging out of their WhatsApp account.

The authority has instructed the users to keep their WhatsApp connected with active and registered SIM, immediately verify the WhatsApp number is connected with active SIM, users using inactive SIM should immediately switch to active SIM, if necessary refer to the nearest franchise or customer service center.

PTA officials say that complete biometric verification and SIM verification, precautions are necessary to protect WhatsApp account, contacts and digital identity, mobile number is not only a means of communication, it is also your digital identity, and keep your WhatsApp account and digital identity safe.
