HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th May, 2026) Sir Cowasjee Jehangir Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Sindh University's Faculty of Law have agreed to collaborate on the subject of forensic psychiatry.
The SU spokesman Nadir Mugheri informed here on Saturday that the institute's Medical Superintendent Dr Nisar Ahmed Sohoo and the faculty's head justice (r) Abdul Rasool Memon held a meeting to discuss the prospects at the Meetharam campus of the SU.
According to him, the meeting focused on legal procedures relating to the insanity defence and the growing importance of forensic psychiatry in legal and criminal cases.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During the discussion, he apprised, both sides exchanged views on strengthening academic and professional collaboration between the two institutes.
He added that they also discussed future cooperation aimed at enhancing teaching, research and practical work in the field of forensic psychiatry and highlighting its role within the Pakistani legal system.
Dr Sohoo and Memon underlined the need for interdisciplinary coordination between legal and medical institutions to better address issues concerning mental health and criminal justice.
