LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) Secretary sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that Sports board Punjab’s cricket team is being formed for the first time in history and the participation of players from far-flung areas in SBP Grade-II trials is the proof of their passion for cricket.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali expressed these views while talking to media on the second day of SBP Grade-II cricket trials at the SBP Cricket academy outside Punjab Stadium on Sunday.
Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed, Assistant Director M Waseem, M Sajid and other officials were also present on this occasion.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali was the chief guest at the trials. He watched the trials proceedings with keen interest.
The SBP Grade-II cricket trials were supervised by former Test cricketer Aizaz Cheema and SBP coaches. More than 200 players from all over the country participated in the trials.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that the enthusiasm of the young cricket players is quite exceptional.
“Pakistan has been blessed with plenty of cricketing talent which is a good omen for the bright future of this game in our country”.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that SBP Grade-II cricket trials are being conducted purely on merit.
“The selection committee has been directed that there will be no compromise on transparency in the selection process”. he said
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that Sports Board Punjab is providing best facilities to all participating young cricketers, selection panel and other associated officials during the organization of 2-day cricket trials.
Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muhammad Ali said that Sports Board Punjab is striving hard for the development of sports across all parts of the province.
“The selected players of Sports Board Punjab Grade-II cricket team will be awarded monthly scholarships”.
