RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2026) Acting on the directives of Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, price magistrates in Murree Tehsil conducted inspections across various markets to ensure compliance with government-approved rates for essential commodities during Ramazan.
During the operations, multiple shops and petrol pumps were examined, and fines were imposed on those charging above the prescribed prices or violating regulations.
The authorities detailed checks were carried out in Murree’s markets to monitor food prices, ensure that rate lists were prominently displayed, and assess the quality of goods.
Shopkeepers found violating official rates were fined on the spot. Petrol pumps were also inspected, and action was taken against those with discrepancies in fuel gauges.
A total of Rs117,000 in fines was imposed during the campaign.
Meanwhile, Arshad Iqbal visited the Ramazan Sahulat Bazaar to review the quality and pricing of essential items. He directed officials to ensure that citizens have access to high-quality goods at government-fixed rates, emphasizing that public relief during Ramazan is the top priority of the district administration.
The Assistant Commissioner warned that any attempts at profiteering, hoarding, or selling substandard goods would be met with strict legal action. The district administration reiterated that operations to control prices and provide relief to the public would continue without discrimination, and no one would be allowed to deviate from official rates.
