PR enhancing passenger facilitation, improving cleanliness at stations: NA told

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd May, 2026) Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal education and Professional Training, Farah Naz Akbar, on Friday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan Railways was taking concerted measures to improve passenger facilitation for both onboard trains and at railway stations across the country.

Responding to a question during the session, she said that premier train services, including the Green Line, business Express, Shalimar Express, and Karakoram Express, were being operated with improved standards of comfort, catering, and service delivery for passengers.

She said high-quality food services and enhanced cleanliness standards were being ensured on these trains to provide a better travel experience.

The parliamentary secretary further informed the House that to improve hygiene and cleanliness at major railway stations, the management of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Khanewal, and Karachi Cantonment railway stations had been outsourced to regional waste management companies.

She said similar efforts were underway to further improve cleanliness standards and food quality across other passenger trains operating in the national rail network.

Farah Naz Akbar said a QR-code-based complaint system had also been introduced, enabling passengers to lodge complaints during their journey or at stations regarding services, cleanliness, or food quality.

She said complaints received through the system were immediately forwarded for necessary action and resolution, ensuring timely response and accountability.

Providing allocation-wise details, she said improvements had been made across various railway divisions, including Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sukkur, Karachi, and Quetta.

She added that a total allocation of Rs 243.675 million had been utilized for the up gradation of Railways stations aimed at enhancing passenger facilities and service standards across the railway network.

She expressed the hope that Pakistan Railways would continue to improve further in the coming period through sustained reforms and service upgrades.
