PPP-Government budget differences persist

Bilawal Bhutto postpones National Assembly speech over budget disagreements with the government.

ISLAMABAD: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-June-16,2026) Differences between the government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over the Federal budget remain unresolved, prompting PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to postpone his speech during the ongoing budget debate in the National Assembly as a mark of protest.

According to PPP sources, senior party leader Naveed Qamar gave a detailed briefing to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the federal budget.

During the briefing, Naveed Qamar informed the PPP chairman that there were significant discrepancies between the budget proposals and figures shared with the party during consultations and the budget ultimately presented in the National Assembly.

Sources said the PPP leadership expressed concern over these differences and is expected to seek an immediate explanation from the government.

A high-level party delegation is expected to contact government representatives soon to discuss the matter and address the party’s reservations.

In response to the budget dispute, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also deferred his scheduled speech in the National Assembly.
