Polio eradication targets, performance reviewed

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2026) The district administration successfully achieved and surpassed targets during the recent anti-polio campaign launched under the Zero Polio Punjab Vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, while observers from the World Health Organization (WHO) appreciated the performance and professional skills of field teams.

The campaign performance was reviewed in a meeting chaired by Provincial Coordinator to Chief Minister on Polio Eradication Uzma Kardar and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz, here on Monday. Additional Deputy Commissioner General, CEO Health Dr Asif Arbab and assistant commissioners attended the meeting.

CEO Health Dr Asif Arbab briefed the participants on the campaign outcomes and informed the meeting that all administrative and vaccination targets had been successfully achieved.

He said vaccination of guest and travelling children was also ensured during the drive to maintain comprehensive coverage.

The meeting was informed that field teams reached every child under five years of age and ensured hundred percent compliance during the vaccination process. Officials said the campaign recorded performance beyond assigned targets due to coordinated efforts of district administration and health authorities.

Addressing the meeting, Uzma Kardar said the Zero Polio Punjab Vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif would be implemented in every situation. She said protecting children from the deadly disease was a shared national responsibility.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz said vaccination of every child under five years of age was a national duty, adding that cooperation of citizens was vital for making Lahore polio-free.
