Police recover stolen livestock worth Rs 25m in major crackdown

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2026) In a major operation against livestock theft, Multan police arrested dozens of suspects and recovered stolen cattle and cash worth more than Rs25 million.

According to a police spokesperson, heightened security measures and increased deployment across cattle markets in the district led to significant breakthroughs against organized criminal networks involved in livestock theft.

Police teams, during a series of targeted operations, dismantled 15 criminal gangs and arrested 46 active members allegedly involved in cattle stealing and related offences.

Authorities said the recovered stolen property included nine cows, five buffaloes, 35 goats, two calves, 13 bikes and one car along with a cash amount of more than 60 lac believed to have been obtained through criminal activities.

Officials estimated the total value of the recovered livestock and cash at over Rs25 million. Investigators further claimed that the arrests helped police trace and resolve 58 pending cases linked to livestock theft in the district.

Senior police officials stated that strict security arrangements at cattle markets were aimed at protecting farmers, traders and citizens from theft and fraud, particularly during periods of increased livestock trading.

They added that the crackdown against criminal elements would continue across the district to maintain law and order and safeguard public property.
