Police ensure tight security at Churches across Punjab

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Mar, 2026) Punjab Police remained on high alert and ensured strict security arrangements during Christian worship and prayer programmes in churches across the province, including Lahore.

In view of the western border situation, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to further enhance security at churches and other sensitive locations, besides instructing supervisory officers to personally visit and monitor the arrangements.

Additional police personnel, including snipers, were deployed at sensitive churches, while Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force teams carried out effective patrolling in surrounding areas.

Search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive points were also conducted to ensure safety and prevent any untoward incident.

IGP Abdul Kareem said religious scholars, members of the Christian community and peace committees should play their role in promoting interfaith harmony and maintaining law and order.
