Police deny claims of "witch" being seen in City

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Mar, 2026) Rumors about a “witch” being caught in Peshawar have spread widely after several such unverifiable videos went viral on social media, sparking public discussion and concern.

According to reports, on the outskirts of Peshawar, particularly around Mohmand Abad and Guldara Chowk, rumors had been circulating for several days about a mysterious woman or creature allegedly appearing at night. These claims created fear and panic among local residents.

However, police officials have denied the claims and distanced themselves from the incident. According to the police, there is no evidence or confirmation of a witch or mysterious creature in the city.

Authorities stated that these reports are merely rumors and unverified information spreading on social media.

Police have urged citizens not to believe such rumors and to avoid taking the law into their own hands. They advised that if anyone notices suspicious activity, they should immediately inform the police so the matter can be properly investigated.

It is worth mentioning that similar rumors have surfaced in different areas of Peshawar in the past, often causing fear among the public. In most cases, these stories later turned out to be misunderstandings or fabricated tales.
