Police chief orders security strategy across KP for Eid-ul-Azha

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd May, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Inspector General of Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, Saturday, directed the police force to formulate a comprehensive strategy and establish foolproof security arrangements for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

In a formal order issued from Central Police Office, KP IGP emphasized a proactive policing approach. He directed them to activate their intelligence networks to thwart potential terrorist activities, intensify surveillance along all internal and external city routes, and establish effective checkpoints with strict checking procedures.

Furthermore, he ordered special security measures to protect critical infrastructure, dignitaries, places of worship, markets, hospitals, and cattle markets.

To ensure the safety of passengers and cattle traders, police officers must increase patrols along all major roads and highways to prevent robberies and dacoities, while spending maximum duty hours in field.

The directive also calls for thorough monitoring of public and recreational spaces, bus terminals, and vehicles booked at checkpoints, alongside strict enforcement against display of weapons, especially after sunset.

To facilitate the public during the Eid holidays, additional personnel will be deployed to maintain continuous traffic flow.

Finally, top police officials have been directed to mobilize public cooperation against miscreants, activate Rescue 15 and Quick Response Units, and develop localized contingency plans, with DPOs mandated to personally monitor the performance of SDPOs and SHOs throughout the Eid-ul-Azha period.
