ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday departed here for a brief daylong official visit to Saudi Arabia, at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
During the visit, the prime minister will meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, according to a PM Office statement.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar accompanied the prime minister.
In the meeting, both leaders will discuss the ongoing tensions in the region, the regional security situation, and bilateral relations between the two countries.
This visit highlights Pakistan's positive and active role in diplomacy on the international stage, and the country will continue to play this constructive role.
At his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told the media that the prime minister's visit to Saudi Arabia was part of the coordination between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on matters of regional peace and security and ending violence and hostilities.
He said that the visit should also be seen in the broader context of Pakistan's efforts to advocate and facilitate an early cessation of hostilities and violence in the region with the aim of paving the way for dialogue and diplomacy.
