ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2026) The Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced a national training camp in preparation for the upcoming Men’s U-18 Junior Asia Cup scheduled to be held in Japan.
The Names of players and officials selected for the camp have been finalized following recommendations from the PHF Professional Development Committee, National Selection Committee, and Head Coach Qamar Ibrahim. The camp has been approved by the PHF President, said a press release.
The national junior hockey team’s training camp will take place from April 28 to May 25, at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium. All selected players and officials have been instructed to report to Head Coach Qamar Ibrahim at the venue by 5pm on April 28.
A total of six goalkeepers have been selected for the camp, including Ghulam Mustafa (Customs), Muzammil Umar (Army), Nauman Khan (Sindh), Hamza Khalid (Punjab), Maysam Abbas (Gilgit-Baltistan), and Hanif Shahid (Balochistan).
To strengthen the defensive and midfield lines, the following players have been called up: Asim Haider, Hassan Akbar (Customs), Muzammil Saeed (Army), Nauman Hanif (Punjab), Rohan Khan (Sindh), Ehsan, Uzair, and Hassan Niaz (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).
Midfield selections include Usman Baig, Asnan Khan, Zaman Gujjar (Customs), Waqas Naeem, Aman Hussain, Abdullah, Shahidullah (Punjab), Usman Asghar (Army), and Usman Ghani (Sindh).
A total of 23 forwards have been included, the highest among all categories. These include Muhammad Usman, Abdullah Awan, Adeel Afzal, Muhammad Hamza, Yahya Najeeb (Customs), Ali Hanzala, Salman Yasin, Shoaib Sultan, Zain (Army), Rana Abdul Sami, Zunair, Abu Sufyan, Farhan Aslam, Hussain Noor, Zain Abid, Arsalan, Ehsan Elahi, Taimoor (Punjab), Sharjeel, Abbas (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Abdul Basit (Islamabad), Faizan, and Fakhar Nasir (Sindh). In addition, 14 players have been placed on a standby list to be called upon if required.
Players attending the camp have been instructed to bring essential documents and items, including a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective departments, a passport valid for at least six months, eight passport-sized photographs, and complete playing kits (both colored and white).
An experienced panel of officials has been appointed to oversee the camp. In addition to Head Coach Qamar Ibrahim, the coaching staff includes Rehan Butt, Umar Bhutta, and Yasir islam. Adeel Akhtar will serve as the physiotherapist, while Syed Abu Zar Amrao has been assigned the role of video analyst.
