LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Feb, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday sealed a fake spices production unit and lodged an FIR against its owner for manufacturing and supplying adulterated spices in counterfeit packaging of renowned brands.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the enforcement team carried out the raid in a residential area of Nisbat Road. During the operation, 1,200kg of substandard spices were discarded, while 500kg of empty cartons, 10 packing rolls and a packing machine were seized from the premises.
On-the-spot testing of the spices revealed that the products failed to meet quality standards. The inspection team found the use of poor-quality raw material and unhygienic conditions, while workers were operating without valid medical and training certificates as well as mandatory documentation.
The unit was sealed over serious violations of food safety laws.
Meanwhile, PFA teams also inspected 11 Sehri points at Lakshmi Chowk and imposed fines amounting to Rs 170,000 on four outlets for violations.
Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid said strict action was being taken against mafias playing with public health for illegal profits. He said those involved in adulteration of essential food items would not be spared and their businesses would be uprooted completely.
He urged citizens to avoid purchasing loose spices and ensure selection of quality and nutritious food, adding that regular inspections were being conducted across Punjab to curb food adulteration and ensure implementation of food safety laws.
