PFA seals 3 food points, lodges FIR, imposes Rs384,000 fine

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Jul, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) enforcement teams inspected 24 food points and production units, sealed three food businesses, registered one FIR and imposed fine worth Rs384,000 on 21 food businesses for failing to comply with previously issued directions.

Food safety teams sealed a renowned milk shop in Model Town after its milk sample failed quality analysis and lodged an FIR against the business. A renowned restaurant in Shalimar was sealed for using prohibited ingredients, while a pickles and murabba production unit on Fayyaz Bagh Road was also sealed

The DG PFA said that teams found finished food products placed directly on the floor and covered with dirty cloth. Mandatory records, including employees' medical certificates and food safety training certificates, were unavailable.

Garbage was found near food items, while insects and cockroaches were heavily present in food preparation and storage areas.

He said that food safety teams observed fungal growth in the washing area, peeling paint falling from the walls onto the floor, dirty freezers and poor sanitation arrangements. Prohibited food colours and colour-cutting agents were also recovered during the inspections, leading to further enforcement action.

He said that round-the-clock enforcement operations are being carried out to ensure the uninterrupted supply of safe, hygienic and quality food to the people of Punjab. He further stated that the PFA follows a zero tolerance policy against food fraud and adulteration.
