PFA lodges FIR, arrests 2, seizes 33,750kg expired imported food products

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) An enforcement team of Punjab Food Authority, on the directions of Director General PFA Syed Musa Raza, has seized 33,750 kilograms of expired imported food products while busting a food fraud network during a raid on a warehouse in Rana Town.

The operation was led by Additional Director General Operations Asad Ullah after three days of surveillance. An FIR was lodged and two suspects were arrested for their involvement in food forgery.

Food safety teams confiscated 11,100 liters of juice and syrup, 2,088 kilograms of milk powder, 310 liters of jelly, 2,000 kilograms of jam, 3,200 kilograms of wafers and other items.

The DG PFA said that labels of expired products of a well-known foreign company were being tampered with and replaced to mislead consumers.

Syed Musa Raza said that expired and tampered food items were being supplied through a well-organized network, and strict monitoring is being carried out at all stages from retail to distribution and wholesale.

He said that strict action will be taken against violations of PFA laws and such businesses will be shut down. He further stated those involved in food fraud as enemies of the nation, adding that their elimination remains the PFA’s top priority.
