MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Jul, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided at an illegal slaughter house and discarded more than two maunds of diseased and unfit-for-human-consumption meat in Adda Wajhianwala, Khanewal on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out on the directives of Punjab Food Authority Director General Syed Musa Raza.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the seized meat was found in an advanced state of decomposition, with a foul smell and severe discoloration. A veterinary doctor declared it unsafe for human consumption. The Food Safety Team immediately disposed of the contaminated meat on the spot and lodged an FIR against the accused Abdul Majeed and Khalil at Chhab Kalan Police Station.
Director General Syed Musa Raza said that the Authority was pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against the sale of meat from diseased or dead animals and would not allow anyone to endanger public health for financial gain.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He said individuals involved in supplying contaminated meat were committing a serious offence and would face strict legal action.
The DG added that special PFA teams were conducting regular inspections and enforcement operations across Punjab against illegal slaughterhouses, adulterated food, substandard meat, and other food safety violations.
He also urged the public to purchase meat and other food items only from licensed and hygienic outlets and to immediately report any suspected sale of unsafe meat or operation of illegal slaughterhouses to the Punjab Food Authority for swift action.
