Peshawar finalizes Eidul Azha sanitation plan, cancels leaves of cleanliness staff

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2026) The authorities here have finalized comprehensive arrangements for sanitation, cattle markets management and uninterrupted civic services during Eidul Azha, including cancellation of leaves for cleanliness staff and strict action against illegal cattle markets.

The decisions were taken during a meeting chaired by Regional Municipal Officer Sajjad Haider and Director General Capital Metropolitan Government Qadeer Naseer.

Officials directed all concerned officers and field staff to remain on duty throughout the Eid holidays to ensure smooth implementation of arrangements and uninterrupted municipal services for citizens.

The meeting decided that all available resources would be utilized to maintain exemplary cleanliness in village councils, ensure timely disposal of animal waste and provide special facilities in approved cattle markets.

A special duty schedule for sanitation workers has been prepared, while additional machinery and staff will also be deployed for scientific disposal of offal away from residential areas to prevent foul smell and environmental hazards.

To prevent the spread of Congo virus and other diseases, authorities directed that special sprays and disinfectants be used in all cattle markets.

Contractors and market owners were instructed to strictly follow government guidelines, establish separate sections for animals, install strong bamboo fencing and create separate entry and exit routes for buyers to avoid overcrowding and accidents.

The meeting also decided to launch indiscriminate crackdowns against illegal cattle markets, with officials emphasizing that cleanliness and public safety would be ensured at all approved markets to provide a healthy and secure environment for buyers and traders visiting the city during Eidul Azha.
