KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh on Tuesday issued a heatwave alert across the province, warning that temperatures may remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal in several districts until May 3.
According to Director General PDMA, citing the Pakistan Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail from April 28 to May 3.
The authority said districts including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki and Sanghar are likely to remain under severe heatwave conditions.
It added that daytime temperatures in Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana and Sukkur, along with other parts of the province, may remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal.
The heatwave standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been circulated to all relevant departments.
The PDMA held a meeting with concerned institutions and reviewed precautionary measures and identification of potential hotspots in detail. It directed all relevant departments to remain fully prepared regarding awareness campaigns, establishment of cooling camps, provision of water and oral rehydration salts (ORS), and emergency medical assistance.
The authority advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and increase water intake.
Farmers have also been advised to take weather conditions into account during crop harvesting and ensure protection of livestock, the PDMA added.
