ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to enhance collaboration in higher education, science, technology, innovation, and international academic exchange.
The MoU signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, with senior leadership, diplomats, and academic representatives from both sides.
The ceremony commenced with an introduction of participants, followed by opening remarks from Assoc. Prof Dr Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs, Prince of Songkla University.
He welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of international academic partnerships in addressing global challenges through education and research.
Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General, OIC-COMSTECH, while delivering opening remarks emphasized COMSTECH’s commitment to promoting scientific cooperation among OIC member states and expanding partnerships with leading universities around the world.
The event was graced by distinguished guests including Mr Rongvudhi Virabutr, Ambassador of Thailand to Pakistan.
Ambassador appreciated the growing academic ties between Pakistan and Thailand and expressed confidence that the MoU would open new avenues for educational collaboration, research mobility, and institutional linkages.
The Memorandum of Understanding would promote joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, training programmes, innovation partnerships, halal science cooperation, and broader academic engagement between PSU and institutions connected through COMSTECH’s network across the Muslim world.
The ceremony concluded with a shared resolve to transform the MoU into practical initiatives that contribute to scientific advancement, academic excellence, and sustainable development across the region.
